World in Conflict devs acquired by Ubisoft
Massive purchased, at last
Good news for fans of World in Conflict today, and the RTS genre in general, as we hear that Massive Entertainment has been purchased by Ubisoft. The firm did count among the orphaned game studios, left without support following the merger which created Activision Blizzard earlier this year.
Ubisoft will now publish Massive's new RTS title, World in Conflict: Soviet Assault, which was also left in limbo following Vivendi's hook-up with Activision.
"Ubisoft is growing at an intense pace and our strategy is to ensure the strength of our global creative teams," beamed Ubi's Christine Burgess-Quemard.
"Massive has put together a group of some of the most confirmed and recognized creators in the industry and I know that their talent and innovation will allow them to seamlessly integrate into our worldwide network of production studios."
No purchase price has been revealed. Massive has been on sale since August, apparently, so this is good news indeed.
