EA being sued over SecuROM
More controversy for the DRM tech
According to word from GamePolitics this morning, publisher EA are being sued over their implementation of the SecuROM anti-piracy technology.
Two cases have been brought against the firm, both filed in California in October, and both linked to digital rights management software included in the publisher's PC releases.
Speaking about the Spore Creature Creator trial edition, the first cases alleges that SecuROM was "secretly" installed on his machine without permission. The Pennsylvania man says that once installed the technology can never be completely removed.
The second complaint relates to a lady who purchased The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, The woman from Missouri claims that she experienced problems with her PC directly following the installation of SecuROM.
Once again, the technology is being described as 'unfair', and even 'immoral' and 'oppressive' too.
What are your thoughts on SecuROM, folks?
