CliffyB says rude things about beta tests
Doesn't like demos either
Cliff Bleszinski, designer of Gears of War 2, has told GamePro that Epic didn't bother with a pre-release beta test, because he's worried it might actually have put people off buying the full game.
His reasoning could be sound, too, even if he does make his point with a somewhat unusual example: "A beta is like hooking up with a girl just to say, ‘Yeah, I f**ked her,’" he told the US website.
He continued: "I know that sounds crude, but it’s the honest-to-God truth. Once you play a beta, you can check it off your list - you can say, 'Yeah, I played it.' Then you might not feel motivated to get that initial cherry popping from the proper, final game."
He also isn't taken with demos - telling us that had Epic created one for Gears 2, then the game might not have made it out until February 2009.
More from the near-legendary CliffyB as we get it.
