Variety magazine are today reporting that are hard at work on a game based on Dante's classic poem Inferno.

In a reversal of the usual formula, we hear that four major film studios are also battling it out for the rights to make a film based on the new game. Paramount, Universal, MGM and New Regency are said to be involved.

A modern take on the classic poem is hinted in this rumour, players battling through demons in the very depths of hell itself. A late 2009 debut is hinted by Variety.

Mercenaries 3 is also said to be in the works behind closed doors (presumably at Pandemic), while 2 is also underway, as is an expansion for Spore.
