Electronic Arts has announced it is laying-off some 6% of its workforce, after the publisher made a loss of 310 million USD for the second financial quarter.

EA lost 195 million USD in the same quarter a year earlier, although were up at 896 million USD.

Madden 09, and Online were the quarter's biggest sellers, with 500 or 600 jobs to go.

"Longer term, we are very bullish on the game sector overall and on in particular," assured EA chief John Riccitiello, as shares slumped 14.5% in after-hours trading.
