A third-party wireless guitar controller that was paired with the console has been recalled by its manufacturers; apparently, faulty circuits within the device were causing a battery leak - which could burn players.

Rock and roll it may be, but apparently it just isn't safe for the Wii's gaming audience, Performance Designed Products dragging back 57,000 units for modification.

The faulty guitars are blue and white, and they were sold between June and September this year. You can apply for a full refund via the official website, so it might be worth checking if your musical Wii peripheral is Rage-branded.

More on this soon (thanks Kotaku).
