According to a recent study, the games genre is now the second most popular among gamers.

The new study by market research firm Odyssey has revealed that 65% of the respondents played games, 58% played music games and 50% of the 1,500 people asked played titles.

Odyssey have also stated that the music genre has influenced the highest adoption rate of consoles in years with 40% of households now owning at least one console.

Furthermore, the majority of gamers playing music titles are female, according to the research firm.

Unsurprisingly, the latest music titles such as and have been labelled as the driving force behind the uptake in music games.

It will be interesting to see if the trend continues following forthcoming new titles from both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band camps, as well as Nintendo's Music.
