LittleBigPlanet delayed over "Qur'an content"
Licensed song uses religious expressions, no new date yet
The big news of the afternoon, and possible the entire month, is that Sony and Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet is being recalled across the globe as a music track licensed in the game includes two 'expressions' taken from the Islamic holy text, the Qur'an.
Original rumours earlier had hinted that the game would be recalled in Europe only - but the latest word from Sony Computer Entertainment reveals the recall will take place across the globe.
The game will be delayed as a result of the recall, but Sony are unclear how many units will be returned, or exactly when the eagerly-awaited sandbox platformer will be released.
"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an," reads a statement from Sony Computer Entertainment.
"We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused."
The game had been due out on October 24th, but speculation abound that the game may now not be released until November 14th.
We'll keep you posted as we learn more on this.
