Riccitiello doesn't like DRM
EA chief addresses controversy
EA boss John Riccitiello has admitted this week that he doesn't like DRM measures - despite his firm having used the controversial SecuROM technology to protect titles like Mass Effect and Spore previously.
Riccitiello however contends that '99.8%' of people don't even notice DRM, before going on to concede that the publisher are still "working out the kinks" of their protection initiatives.
"We implemented a form of DRM and it's something that 99.8 per cent of users wouldn't notice. But for the other 0.2 per cent it became an issue, and a number of them launched a cabal online to protest against it.
"I personally don't like DRM. It interrupts the user experience. We would like to get around that, but there is this problem called piracy out there," Riccitiello told Yahoo.
The exec promises that upcoming PC release Red Alert 3 will see less aggressive measures in place. What are your thoughts on this?
