Molyneux uninspired by sports games
Next title all about the AI
Lionhead chief Peter Molyneux, in the process of promoting his firm's big name Fable 2 release, has told VG247 that the sports game genre isn't progressing and is in desperate need of real innovation.
Molyneux has previously hinted that he might consider creating a sports game of his own in the past: "As far as the sports game’s concerned, what I was saying at that time is that, for me personally, it’s the challenge of doing something I haven’t done before, and obviously I’ve never done anything like a sports game before."
He added that he won't actually be doing a sports game of his own anytime soon, stating that "there’s not that step-change which you can see other genres taking."
The designer has hinted that his new game will be all about AI, but wouldn't be drawn revealing any more: "Obviously, theses days, when there are millions and millions of dollars at stake, you’ve got to be responsible about this, and I did anyway say that I wouldn’t talk about anything unless I could show it, prove it and it was ready to be unveiled."
More from PM soon.
