Golden Joystick's appeal to MTV Generation
Bling bling.
This year's annual Golden Joystick Awards, organised by Computer and Video Games magazine (Dennis Publishing), will be broadcast on MTV as part of a new deal between the music channel and the event organisers. This will apparently put the awards in front of a potential 8 million viewers, who'll be able to tune in to a special edition of Screenplay on December 5th. Repeat showings of the awards will be broadcast on December 6th, 7th and 8th.
The event itself will take place at a ceremony in London's Park Lane Hotel on Friday, November 28th. Screenplay is hosted by Alex Zane, broadcasts every Friday at 5:30pm and MTV viewers will be encouraged to vote for their own award -Best Film Adaptation - through promotions on the show, MTV News and online.
"Having launched Screenplay on MTV UK earlier this year to a phenomenal response from our viewers it was a natural choice to support the highly-influential Computer and Video Games Golden Joystick Awards, bringing together the two brands and respective audiences," enthused the amusingly named James Scroggs, Marketing Director for MTV UK.
The Golden Joystick's are the UK's longest-serving interactive entertainment awards, which might explain why attendees are paying upwards of £80 per ticket.
