Silent Hill goes Big Screen
Horror game hit feature film announced
Konami have today announced they have sold the rights to a Silent Hill feature film. The Japanese gaming giant has teamed up with Davis Films Sarl, and producer Samuel Hadida to co-operate in a big-screen porting of the game. Konami say they will have a hand in every stage of the film's production, from the script, through design and sound creation, to "accurately recreate the universal appeal of the game".
Christophe Gans, the appointed director, had this to say:
"Silent Hill is a groundbreaking game which atmosphere has mesmerized millions of gamers all over the world, it is scary and clever. I am very proud to be associated with this game"
The press release touts several films produced and directed by the people involved, namely True Romance, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and Crying Freeman, none of which we have heard of. Lets hope this doesn't end up going the way of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Wing Commander et al. It does look, however, like they are aiming a little higher.
