Xbox 360 beating PS3 stateside
Nintendo beating all
Despite analyst-led predictions to the contrary, the latest NPD Group data released in the United States late yesterday, reveals that the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 during the month of August.
The Wii and the DS lead comfortably still, but the 'next-gen' result may surprise some who had expected a good performance from Sony's system.
The DS was the month's top-seller, shifting over 518,000 units, followed by the Wii on 453,000 units.
Third was the PSP handheld with 253,000 machines sold; the 360 fourth with 195,000.
Fifth was the PS3 with 185,000 sales and the PS2 came in sixth with 144,000.
