X03: No price cut this year?
Strange, but true?
As the party drew to a close yesterday, and I sat reflecting on the evening's activity with a few members of our dear industry and a couple of Microsoft PR types - we concluded that although we'd all had fun, and that things were still looking optimistic for the console, the proceedings had nonetheless lacked the magnitude of previous years. This was mainly down to the lack of any major news, the likes of which we've come to expect from the Xbox, and it was instead left to the Epic Games deal to be the only significant new information.
This could be because we were all expecting a price-cut of some sort to be confirmed, with rumour rife that a new price point of ₤99 was possible, or at least something in the run up to the festive season. Sadly, there was no such news, and upon mentioning this to Microsoft's PR chaps they assured me hand's upon heart (would they lie?) that they knew of no plans for any price cut this year. Ho-hum. We shall see then if that proves to be true or not, but regardless, Microsoft's press conference was overly long and lacking in substance.
More as we get it.
