Heavy Rain officially announced
Dark, moody, film-like, story-led
Sony have announced new IP at the Leipzig Games Convention through developer Quantic Dream. The film-like dark, horror title Heavy Rain will be released in 2009, and promises to explore adult tones rarely seen in games.
David Cage, the head of the French developer, is the writer and director of the game gave hints of the emotional and, again, film inspired story-led nature of the title. He showed his frustration at "repetitive" gameplay common in titles, and promised more "emotional involvement, empathy, contextual actions, moral choices and decision making".
Live footage was shown, which is promising, tastefully intertwined with cut scenes. Rain-sweapt streets, weird mannequins, darkness - you know the deal.
Reeves was understandably upbeat, laying it on the line telling us that Heavy Rain is "the great game for the PlayStation 3 next year". Blimey.
