The strict regulations enforce concerning games to be released via their Live service, are actually hurting the quality of the games on the download platform. That's the word from Jonathan Blow, creator of the stunning Braid.

Braid was released last Wednesday, and is being hailed in some quarters as the best Arcade title ever.

Blow isn't entirely enamoured with Microsoft, it would appear, the designer also noting his game's 1200 Points price-tag with conncern previously.

"They removed some of the requirements for games, but there are still a lot of requirements, and I believe that, at least for a single-player game like my game, the vast majority of these requirements are unnecessary," he revealed, speaking to Gamasutra.

"I put in a tremendous amount of work meeting all these requirements, when I could have put that work into the actual game, and made it even a little more polished, little bit better."
