America's Army attacked by anti-war protesters
Veterans Against the War rail against game
Veterans Against the War, alongside other anti-war protesters, have been turning their attentions to America's Army this week - and its publisher Ubisoft.
Ex-soldier Ryan Lockwood believes it is wrong that army funds are being used to create what amounts to an expensive recruitment device; the America's Army game.
"It's definitely a recruitment tool, and the fact that it's put out by the federal government and being funded from our tax dollars sounds illegal to me," Lockwood told MTV.
"I'm not exactly sure what the laws are, but if it is being funded by our tax dollars, we have the right to say, 'Hey, stop taking our money and using it for stupid sh**.'"
Lockwood has no problem with simulation titles like Call of Duty 4, because it was created using private funds, and isn't designed to be a recruitment tool. America's Army is different kettle of fish, however.
Ubisoft did not release the title in Europe, and haven't announced any plans for a new installment, either. More as we get it.
