Sony's PlayStation Network boss Eric Lempel has revealed that a 2.41 update for the PlayStation 3 console is now live. The update is expected to fix the crashing some players experienced with last week's 2.40 patch.

Speaking to the PlayStation blog, Lempel said: "Hi, everyone. As many of you know, we released firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed. We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly."

He continued: "We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone and racking up those trophies!"

The new update does of course add in-game XMB access, and trophy support for a number of compatible games. More are on the way.
