It may still be over two months away from a full release but the first tiny part of was released a couple of days ago by EA.

The Spore Creature Creator, as the title suggests, allows gamers to create all manor of weird and wonderful beings ready for use in the full game. In case you've been living in a glass box somewhere Spore is the new game from Will Wright (yes, the man who created The Sims) and it aims to allow players to create and evolve life forms right from cellular levels all the way up to galactic colonisation. How's that for scope.

In the first 24 hours since the Spore Creature creator became available over 250,000 alien life forms were designed, created and posted in the special Sporepedia. The statistics bods have proudly noted that averages out at more than two creatures a second and are keen to point out that at one point over 1,000 monsters were uploaded in a single minutes.

Having been in for what seems like forever the imminent release of Spore, a game so ambitious we're just hoping it can live up to it's own hype, is certainly something to get excited about so expect more news on this soon.
