Despite marketing boss Laurent Fischer's ill-conceived remarks about expanded storage only being for 'geeks and otaku', the Big N are reportedly working on a solution to the Wii console's limited storage space.

Fischer denies plans for an external hard-drive, but says a solution is being considered.

"We definitely detect that [players] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so it's something that we're working on," Fischer tells GI.biz.

"Definitely there's no plan to issue - an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area. It's very obvious and we're perfectly aware of it, but there's nothing we can say beyond this."

The Wii is presently limited to 512MB of Flash memory, although you can use SD cards. Still, with now out it seems likely we'll be hearing more on how we can cram more games onto the Wii soon.
