Prototype delayed until 2009
Sierra push new game back
Word in from Sierra today has it that superhero-action game Prototype has slid into 2009, that's what IGN tell us, anyway.
"Sierra Entertainment and Radical Entertainment have made the decision to shift Prototype to launch in 2009," offered a representative of Sierra, sometimes known as VU Games (or even Vivendi, instead).
"Since its announcement, Prototype has been regarded by many as groundbreaking and taking the open-world genre in new directions, and in the simplest explanation possible, we need more time to deliver the game the team initially set out to create."
Speaking with play.tm last year, designer Dennis Detwiller had this to offer on his new opus: "Prototype also has one huge advantage. Thanks to the shape-shifting and disguise elements, the pace of the game is directly controlled by the player. They can grab a disguise and in seconds and disengage from a firefight by blending into the crowd.
"When they're done, they can activate their powers, reveal themselves and attack the enemy again. I think you’ll agree that this is something we could only do with next-gen platforms, and that’s the reason we all find Prototype such an exciting proposition."
More soon.
