Activision boss sees console price cuts looming

Bobby Kotick, Activision big wig, believes that impending economic troubles may force the big console makers to reduce their prices, in order to continue selling their wares in record numbers.

The boss has in fact pushed for price cuts previously, more console sales inevitably meaning more potential game sales and a larger userbase for publishers like Activision.

Still, Kotick believes the rising cost of living in the States could soon force Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to act.

"With the rising costs of fuel and food and housing, it is more difficult to go out and buy a 399 USD console, and I think it’s going to put pressure on the console manufacturers to reduce their prices," he told Reuters this week.
