Bungie not making Destiny for PC to avoid being stretched too thin

Adding another platform would compromise console development

Bungie has revealed their reasoning behind not developing Destiny for PC.

A PC version of Destiny has been conspicuous by its absence but community manager Eric Osborne stated that they were avoiding that feeling of being like butter spread across too much bread.

He said, “It’s a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience. We know there are a lot of people out there asking for PC and we know that there are a lot of gamers that would willingly give us money, but what we have to do is make sure we’re focused enough to bring a good experience to any platform that we ship on.” Bungie not making Destiny for PC to avoid being stretched too thin

“What we 100 percent are not going to do is spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms,” Osborne continued. “So right now we have the four platforms, which is a lot to focus on.”

Destiny is due out next year on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. With PC architecture at the heart of PS4 and the Xbox One and many of the later games on the current-gen featuring PC-led development (Battlefield 3 and 4 are prime examples) PC gamers will be wondering why Bungie aren't developing for PC and then porting over to the other platforms.
