Warcraft player takes on gold farming outfit
IGE lawsuit looms
Word in the from the States today reveals that a Floridian World of Warcraft player is planning to sue gold farming outfit IGE, charging the firm with damaging the game experience by selling in-game currency in exchange for real-world money.
Antonio Hernandez is attempting to launch a class action suit against IGE, the former games retail assistant the first player to attempt to tackle gold farming directly.
The case will seek to ascertain what rights Mr. Hernandez has when playing the game, and Blizzard have voiced support for the action.
"We believe that shutting down gold farming and real-money transfer is in the interest of all World of Warcraft players, and that a victory in this case would have a positive long-term effect on the online gaming industry as a whole," commented Blizzard COO Paul Sams.
