The Agency hopes to lure new MMO players
Beta in late 2008
Sony Online Entertainment are hoping to lure players new to the genre with their forthcoming spy-themed MMO game, The Agency.
The developer hope the title will offer newcomers as much pleasure as seasoned online gamers, lead designer Matt Staroscik telling Eurogamer.net that the title is primarily a shooter; skill being the main commodity required.
"Less experienced characters will be at a disadvantage, yes, but we are not like a traditional class-based MMO where your 89th-level Dark Paladruid can defeat an infinite number of noobs," Staroscik offers.
"In The Agency, the noobs are going to get you - but you'll make them pay dearly."
The Agency is being crafted for the PS3 and PC, and will see rival espionage agencies battling it out in real world cities.
The makers hope that the use of operatives as 'living loot' will give the game a unique twist and we'll be able to put this to the test in beta planned for later this year.
