DS and Wii leading the charge
New figures in from US sales monitors NPD reveal that Nintendo are presently leading the way in North American hardware sales.
In February alone the DS sold a huge 587,000, doubling the PSP's 243,000.
The Wii was also in second place, managing 432,000 consoles, the PS2 did better than the PS3 with 351,000, while Sony's next-gen system managed 280,000. The Xbox 360 was a little off the pace, fifth on 254,000.
Nintendo was also looking good in Japan, the Wii topping the latest Japanese hardware charts for the week just finished - the 'disruptive' console managing 57,000 sales. This just pipped the PSP's 54,000, the DS third on nearly 49,000.
The PS3 was comfortably off the pace with 21,000, beating the PS2's 10,000, the Xbox 360 miles behind still on less than 3,000.
