Apple have this week unveiled plans to deliver games to their mobile. The giant and software maker will provide game developers access to their kits and APIs free of charge.

Steve Jobs, outspoken boss of Apple, announced the news in a conference yesterday afternoon.

Electronic Arts have signed-up to deliver to the iPhone - the publisher are already making a version of the game. Super Monkey Ball will also be delivered to the handset by Sega, with improved visuals promised.

Touch Fighter will be the iPhone's debut game - the handset functioning as a steering wheel enabling you to pilot a spaceship. Games will be sold via the App Store, taking 30% of royalties, in returning for taking care of all and distribution.

id Software's has also expressed interest in making iPhone games, the gaming supremo adding: "Just based on the blurbs, it looks very good - a simulator plus debugging on the native device is the best of both worlds, and a 70 per cent royalty deal for apps over iTunes is quite good."

"It is a potentially tremendous device for games," Worms makers added at the news, hinting that their wiggly creations might also make it to Apple device.
