Sony attack Microsoft's lack of "capitalisation"
Platform holder has failed
According to word from Sony Computer Entertainment America's Scott Steinberg, Microsoft has failed to capitalise on the one year head start the Xbox 360 enjoyed over the PS3.
Indeed, the exec believes Redmond have even failed to "reach beyond the core first person shooter player", the basis of their audience.
"The time that they had to create huge distance and build a massive install base before the PS3 could really take root; that opportunity is over and there's no real capitalization of it," Steinberg practically-beamed.
"They had a great crescendo moment with Halo and it helped catapult them into a pretty strong position towards the back end of last year, but they were still within a stone's throw of where they were with the original Xbox," he added.
"To me that speaks of a failure to broaden their reach beyond the core first person shooter player who was in their back pocket for Xbox."
The Sony boss believes Microsoft has failed to steal market share from Sony, or lure PS2 fans, while he believes these people will soon be looking to the Blu-ray equipped PS3 for their next lounge-box.
