While a TV guide channel has launched over the Wii's service in Japan, have denied they are planning to deliver a version of the channel to Europe, too.

Called the "Television Friend Channel" in Japan, IGN reveal that the service helps users track programmes and channels, via 'tags'.

The service will also allow others to see what you're watching via Mii 'stamps' and it will even send SMS alerts and email messages to remind you when your favourite programmes are on.

Cleverly, the service will even switch to your actual TV channels as required, using the the Wiimote - something we didn't even know was technically possible. Some kind of fancy Japanese technology is hinted.

No European, or indeed North American plans have been sighted yet, sadly.
