Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots could be an even more sizable proposition than we'd first imagined, apparently having to "cut" the game in order to make it fit on a single disc.

Veteran designer told Famitsu magazine that various cuts and optimisations were required to make the game fit within the necessary 50 GB.

"For us, we're not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there's not capacity space," he revealed, according to Kotaku's translation.

"There's not enough space at all...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress," the designer added.

The disc will of course hold Metal Gear Online, in addition to MGS4, and we've heard previously that Japanese voice-work won't be included in European and releases owing to space constraints.

The game will be released on June 12th.
