Wii closing in on Xbox 360 stateside
Nintendo hope to pass MS in the summer
Nintendo bosses believe that the Wii console will pass the Xbox 360 in sales terms come June. That's in the USA, anyway.
US Ninty chief Reggie Fils-Aime told Bloomberg that he expects games like Wii Fit and Super Smash Bros. Brawl to further propel sales of the 'disruptive' console stateside.
The Wii has so far sold about 8 million systems in the USA, with the Xbox 360 topping 9 million presently.
The Wii became the world's best-selling present generation system in late 2007, with over 20 millions sales worldwide, the Xbox 360 stands on 18 million, followed by the PS3 with 10 million.
The USA is still regarded as the world's most important games market, although Europe has emerged as a strong region for all three systems, too. More soon.
