Action title deemed too brutal down-under
Ultra-violent third-person action title Dark Sector has been deemed unacceptable by Australia's conservative censors, who have barred the game's release, describing the title as 'violent, gruesome and sinister'. Sounds like a night out with Jason.
As with Manhunt 2, Australia's ratings board, the OFLC, has refused Dark Sector a classification (age rating), effectively banning the game from release in the country.
IGN report that the OFLC describe the Digital Extremes-developed action title as "violent and sometimes gruesome game with a sinister storyline and ominous outcome".
"The violence and aggression inflicted upon the protagonist is of a high level, naturalistic and not stylised at all." Meanwhile, some of the nastiest moves are "relatively easy to accomplish," apparently.
The game is due out in Europe and the US next month.
