Ultra-violent third-person title Dark Sector has been deemed unacceptable by Australia's conservative censors, who have barred the game's release, describing the title as 'violent, gruesome and sinister'. Sounds like a night out with Jason.

As with Manhunt 2, Australia's ratings board, the OFLC, has refused Dark Sector a classification (age rating), effectively banning the game from release in the country.

IGN report that the OFLC describe the Digital Extremes-developed action title as "violent and sometimes gruesome game with a sinister storyline and ominous outcome".

"The and aggression inflicted upon the protagonist is of a high level, naturalistic and not stylised at all." Meanwhile, some of the nastiest moves are "relatively easy to accomplish," apparently.

The game is due out in and the next month.
