PS3 tops one million sales
Faster than PS2, too
The PlayStation 3 has now passed one million sales in the United Kingdom, with the new console having passed the milestone more rapidly than the PlayStation 2 managed.

The console was released in the UK on March 23rd, 2007, and Sony will be buoyed by the news that the console has reached one million sales more rapidly than their record-breaking PS2.
The PS2 passed one million sales after 50 weeks, while the Wii console holds the fastest one million sales record, the console hitting the mark after just 38 weeks (in the UK, of course). The Xbox 360 was somewhat slower, taking 60 weeks.
European sales of the PS3 have been on the up, as they have been in Japan, too, with Sony's toughest battle now likely in ambivalent North America - where the Xbox 360 rules supreme.
