The hot shot Rainbow Six team will back a little earlier than expected, as Ubi Soft confirmed today that this big add-on pack will be with us this very autumn on the PC. Titled Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword, the game promises the usual anti-terrorist intrigue, coupled with hyper-realistic game play and a new potentially colourful Mediterranean setting.

"Rainbow Six fans have given high praises to Shield and have named it an instant classic." enthused Alain Corre, Ubi Soft's Managing Director for Europe, the Asia Pacific region and South America. "With new missions, weapons, modes, and multiplayer levels, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword will deliver more of what they crave - the action, the realism, and the thrill of fighting clusters of really deadly terrorists as a team."

A brand new eight mission campaign set across Italy, Croatia and Greece will be included, along with additional multiplayer modes and levels, 'classic' levels taken from the original Rainbow Six updated for the Unreal engine will also feature, a few new weapons bring the total to 64, and finally all-new sound effects from the team responsible for the effects in The Matrix, no less.

The add-on will be created by Ubi Sof's Milanese studio.
