BioShock 2 a prequel?
New title could be set before the fall of Rapture
The success of the original BioShock last autumn guaranteed that publisher Take-Two would set about creating a sequel fairly quickly, and we today hear that a prequel could be order of the day with BioShock 2.
Rumour on the grape-vine (well, CVG) has it that 2K's new title is already in pre-production, and that the game could take place before the events of the original, depicting the rise and, presumably, the fall of Rapture, rather than the aftermath.
Rapture is of course the underwater utopia founded by an early twentieth century capitalist, that has seemingly fallen on hard times as you enter the world of the original BioShock.
No one at 2K has revealed that BioShock 2 is on the way, of course, but one exec did moot the suggestion that an "every-two-year schedule would be optimal," hinting that the next title could be with us in 2009.
