Activision have assured aggrieved III owners that they are working to replace faulty discs, but that those requesting new discs may need to wait until the beginning of 2008.

According to forum chit-chat, problems began when players started noting that surround sound doesn't work, and is in fact restricted to mono-playback. Naturally, GH3's avid community were quick to rally together and demand publisher act.

"We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," responded Acti today.

"We are currently working with and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game. We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available."

Non-Wii versions of GH3 appear to have dodged these issues, though Acti's replacement plans still remain unspecific.
