MechWarrior, Shadowrun and other FASA hits returning?
New dev rises from the ashes
FASA may be gone, but the IPs they worked on at Microsoft's bequest live on, and it would appear so do many of the developers that worked on them. The defunct developer now appears to be making a return, executive Jordan Weisman returning as chief of Smith & Tinker, announcing a new deal to develop Microsoft IPs.
Crimson Skies, Shadowrun and MechWarrior are covered by the deal, according to word on the new S&T website, and other unspecified former FASA properties may also be transferred to the developer's care.
"We're not quite ready to announce our plans for each property, but please be assured that our goal is to surprise and delight old fans, while welcoming new fans to these fantastic worlds", beams a statement from the new start-up.
The failure of cross-platform (PC, Xbox 360) title Shadowrun was blamed for FASA's demise in the late summer, and it will be interesting to witness the direction in which Smith & Tinker will now head.
