Eidos Montreal's manager, Stephane D'Astous has been talking 3 once again, telling 1UP.com which formats the game is to be developed for, and when it will be officially revealed: "It's going to be announced in maybe early 2008 or maybe summer. But we're not working on current or last gen, it's next-gen and PC."

"Next-gen" is of course most frequently coined to describe the and the PS3. So there you have it.

With the game at the very earliest stages of development, it looks as if we won't be seeing Deus Ex 3 until 2009, D'Astous also revealing that and Harvey Smith, both former Deus Ex designers, were approached, but neither were available to contribute to the project.

Eidos product director Ian Livingstone is however said to be watching the project from afar, keen to make the most of this well-respected IP.

"I think the dialogue, choice versus consequences, the depth and richness of the game is something that we will certainly conserve. There are other more specific features that we want to keep," the manager revealed, speaking on one aspect of the series like to persist in number three.

The game's plot, meanwhile, is "something that will please the fans that are loyal to the franchise," while we're promised more on all this later in 2008.

We'll keep you posted.
