Eidos Interactive are refusing to comment on web-chatter that Lara's next game will be called Tomb Raider: Underworld. A trademark filing for the name appears to suggest it could be the publisher's next moniker of choice.

The trademark filing specifically notes coverage of both and digital distribution, suggesting that if Underworld is the next Croft adventure, then it could be distributed via a service like Live in a similar fashion to Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

The filing even hints that the new game could be related to the final days of the Mayan calendar, tradition stating that this is the time when portals are opened between the real world and the underworld. Inevitably, this can apparently see various demons of the deep journeying to our world. Which sounds... interesting?

The next game could be unveiled by in their next investor report. More on this as we get it.
