According to reports this afternoon, the success of III: Legends of Rock is actually boosting the as a whole, with gamers flocking online to download 'real' versions of the tracks they play in the game.

Tech site Ars Technica report that track for bands like The Strokes, Slipknot, Sleeping and Youth were all boosted directly following the arrival of GHIII stateside on October 28th.

Reptilia, a Strokes track featured in the game, saw download sales up 127% in the first week and 96% in the second. Slipknot's Before I Forget was also up 75% and 140%.

Industry experts suggest that games are increasingly becoming a way for music firms to market their music to hard to reach demographics, and this sales success seemingly proves the connection.
