Reports of publisher Interplay's demise over the last couple of years appear to have been somewhat exaggerated, with the company still clinging onto existence in some form - despite the fact that the firm's supposed saviour, Online - has thus far failed to materialise.

US Securities and Exchange Commission filings stateside suggest that the firm is attempting to re-launch efforts, using the money from the sale of their Fallout IP to Bethesda. "Through sequels and various development and publishing arrangements" Interplay apparently hope to bring back a few gaming favourites of the past, with Earthworm Jim, MDK, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and even Descent all mooted.

Of course, whether the publisher can secure funding to revitalise their in-house development capabilities, or fund the publishing of externally developed offerings remains very much to be seen. That said, a couple of those series' would certainly be welcomed back with open arms.
