Portable Megadrive wows Brazilian retro fans
Handheld console revealed
The Brazilian games market (of all places), will soon be getting a portable Megadrive handheld console, according to reports today - and the device is set for release in December, carrying Sega's official endorsement.
Created by TecToy, the mobile Megadrive isn't a copy-cat system, but has instead been created with Sega's blessing. A December 5th release across Brazil is on the cards, while comparisons with Nintendo's Chinese offering, the N64-remixed iQue, have already been made.
The system comes pre-loaded with some 20 games, and costs 100 USD, with likes of of Ecco, Sonic, Alex the Kidd and Golden Axe all included. Sadly, the system is closed, meaning that you won't be able to acquire new games for it (there is no card slot, in fact), though we imagine enterprising hackers might have something to say about that.
The game system will run off three AAA batteries. I wonder if it'll make it out elsewhere, too?
