Bungie introduce Halo 3 'Heatmaps'
Coming to a field of death near you
Bungie have this week revealed that 'heatmaps' are being introduced into Halo 3 multiplayer games, allowing players to see where their friends and enemies have died during hard-fought matches.
"Heatmaps are the Doppler Radar System of Death in Halo 3. We're tracking encounters, weapons used and their results in a given game, collecting that data and sharing it with players visually. The key here is 'the darker the red, the more frequent the deaths (or kills, depending on the parameters)'," Bungie state, explaining the new feature as part of their weekly update.
At present the feature is dubbed 'beta' by Bungie, who haven't quite worked out how this introduction will impact other databases and load-balancing, et al. Stats are slightly limited at present, then, but they do promise to crank up the digits once the beta is concluded.
More Halo 3 from its creators as we get it.
