The licensing that had apparently been hindering SingStar's move to the PlayStation 3 have seemingly been overcome, with now dated for release in the United Kingdom. We're told the new version of the popular karaoke title should arrive in PAL regions (including the and Europe) on December 12th, just in time for some festive frolics.

The dating was first mooted by the semi-official Three Speech blog, and was then confirmed by as officially official. There's even an oh-so trendy SingStar MySpace site on the go, if you'd like to make friends with err... SingStar?

The main selling point of the new title is the ability to download new tracks for the game from the SingStore, and this service does of course offer huge potential, even if Sony are less likely to be able to offer seventeen different kinds of expansion once the original version is released.

We'll bring you more on SingStar PS3 soon.
