Guillemot talks Ubisoft, Nintendo and PS3
CEO speaks out
Talking up the French publisher's forthcoming line-up, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has told press at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference that he hopes Ubisoft can achieve "Nintendo-like" quality on the Wii.
He also backed the format to deliver in a big way for third-party firms, enthusing at length about the profitability of the console. According to Guillemot, there is "no limit" to the Wii's growth potential. The DS is also a favourite, it emerges, owing to the high-volumes of games Ubisoft are selling compared to the modest development costs.
Even the PS3 received lavish praise, the CEO backing the new pricing of the system, and the manner in which it moves games closer to films. He also denied that the PS3 is more tricky to develop for, affirming that the company makes games for the Xbox 360 and PS3 simultaneously.
"Before, it was costing us more like 20 percent, just because it was difficult to learn the PS3 hardware, but now our engines are done, and we can easily develop for both machines."
Finally, he also offered an ambitious premonition for Assassin's Creed: "The indication that we have on Assassin's Creed is that at the moment it's looking to [earn average review scores] of over 90 percent."
More on the French publisher soon.
