The first outing in the world famous Worms series, titled Worms 3D, will now be published by on the PC, Xbox, and PS2. The game is scheduled for a release in the Autumn, and we're promised a blend of classic Worms game play, with cutting-edge visuals.

The usual blend of over the top turn-based will feature, along with weapons such as bazookas, grenades, dynamite, air strikes and sheep, not to mention brand new weapons designed to take advantage of the new "liberating" 3D landscapes.

Sega's Matthew Woodley commented: "Brilliant gameplay and a strong brand - Worms 3D has SEGA 'hit' written all over it. The creators at have inspired us all with their passion and vision and we're delighted to be partnering with them in bringing Worms 3D to as wide a market as possible."

Formerly, from what I can gather with a little digging, this game was titled Worms 3 and was to be published on all platforms by Activision, as they announced late last year, though quite what happened to this agreement we're not sure.
