Naughty Dog boss Christophe Balestra has stated ahead of the launch of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune that he hopes a sequel can be made, and that the developer are already considering where to go next with Uncharted, despite the exclusive remaining a few weeks from release.

"Crash was a franchise, Jak & Daxter was a franchise and yes of course will be a franchise," he said in conversation with Opposable Thumbs. "It takes a lot of effort to create a universe like Uncharted and there is so much more we want to do. It would be a waste if we didn't have a sequel to make it even better than the first one."

Balestra revealed that Uncharted was only using 30% of the Cell CPU's power so far, and that any sequel would inevitably push the console's further. "We already have very sophisticated technology and we'll push to the next level for our next game," he said.

"I think the PS3 is the machine of the future, the transition might not be super easy but knows and is helping third-party developers," he added on the task of PS3 development. "If you look at other industries we just have to deal with a multicore processor and in companies like Google programmers probably deal with thousands of machines, so in terms of complexity I think it's totally manageable."

Drake's Fortune is out on December 7th.
