The first of a string of TurboGrafx-CD games has just hit the in the US. The game, Gate of Thunder was developed by Hudson and provides a fast-paced side-scrolling shoot ’em up that originally drew on the extra capacity afforded by the addition of a CD to the standard TurboGrafx setup.

The game boasts a vast array of power-ups, enormous bosses, and a pulse-pounding soundtrack. This certainly seems like a bargain for 800 Points. Now, (if you’ll excuse a little editorialising) if they’d only get around to releasing Parasol Stars on the Virtual Console, we’d have gleaned the best from the TurboGrafx.

Additionally on Virtual Console, Ryu Hayabusa returns in the original release of NES classic II. Last but not least we have the SNES Metal Marines for 800 Wii Points, a game developed by Namco.

Fingers crossed for a Euro release for the above.
