New First Party Wii and DS Games Announced
Nintendo keeps the good times rolling!
Nintendo announced a whole host of new games for the Wii today. Speaking at their Japan Press event, they listed three new triple A games in development. Fire Emblem on Nintendo DS is the long awaited sequel to the successful series on the GBA. Wii Music, seen previously at E3, enables you to use the motion sensing abilities of the Wii-mote to control and conduct a full classical orchestra. Finally, Super Mario Stadium Baseball is another Mario sports game this time focusing on baseball; we would assume this will be taking advantage of the popularity of Wii-Sports baseball and could be the first in a line of Nintendo games that provides a more fleshed out sporting experience.
Nintendo also took the opportunity to talk a little bit about Mario Kart. The main headline was that they plan to include motorbikes. The game is due out in Japan in spring and should hit over here sometime between then and July. The news of more varied vehicles fleshes out what we already know about the game. Namely, there is no kart sharing like double-dash (phew!) and there will be a substantial online mode.
The news of upcoming games next year is most welcome. With many of Nintendo’s big games hitting stores this Christmas, we needed some more games to clamour over. More details on these games as we get it.
