Monster Hunter 3 on Wii
Although until recently the Monster Hunter series was something of a non-event outside Japan, the two recent releases on PSP have given the games a higher profile. With that in mind the news that Monster Hunter 3 is coming to the Wii is a significant announcement.
Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata made the announcement at the Japanese media briefing earlier today. To be clear, this is not a re-worked version of the old game but a fully produced fresh title for Wii audiences. It is indicative of the market penetration achieved by Nintendo’s fast selling console that these big ticket games are now coming to it directly.
Whilst this is not a platform exclusive (Monster Hunter 3 has also been announced for the PS3) it will still be something of a system seller in Japan. In related news, there is an unconfirmed rumour that this announcement may impact, or even replace, the PS3 release of the game.
